A lovely ‘pip’ stop

After a tremendous few days in the woods we headed south towards LA and are now at the Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo.

Making the most of the luxury we crashed out in the huge beds, ate the freshly baked cookies in the lobby and lived it up in the jacuzzi.

On a bear hunt…..Yosemite part two….

Here we are on our choppers seeing the sights of Yosemite

And here is where we’re staying – not a Starbucks in sight!

The green box you can see is our bear box where we had to keep all our food and toiletries so that the bears didn’t break into our tents. The black bears in Yosemite are very clever and always remember where they have found food before so all night you could hear them banging on the bear boxes to try and open them. We missed seeing a bear by five minutes when we walked through the woods in the dark after a campfire with a  park ranger but we did see a mummy raccoon and her two babies, Ava said they looked like burglars wearing masks.

Yosemite Sam

The journey from SF to Yosemite took longer than anticipated as the freeway was not exactly free. After 7 hrs with a stop for frozen yoghurt, we arrived at 10.30pm, stumbled to our cabin in the woods and crashed out.

The next day we hired bikes, cycling to Yosemite Falls and to a beach, where we swam in the river (chilly). We went on a bear walk, learning lots about the black bears which live in the park and just had a brilliant time. Yosemite is spectacular.

(Part 2 tomorrow).

The Streets of San Fransisco

The next leg of our journey saw us fly from Las  Vegas to San Fransisco.

We enjoyed a tram ride (hanging off of course) and managed to spy a “Sue” going  through Chinatown on the tram. We then did a bit of shopping and also some modelling for Gap.

Goodbye Page, Arizona

We left Lake Powell with heavy hearts – we had had a brilliant time – rafting, slot canyons, Lake Powell, breakfast in Denny’s and our first experience of Walmart.

But on our journey to Utah we drove through Zion Park which was breath-taking. Just when we thought the views couldn’t get any better we drove through this
